The scale of all things known and imagined.

If you have ever wondered how big things are in relationship to other things..

Don’t buy music from apple(iTunes)

Anyone who knows me, knows my opinion of APPLE products and the relative intelligence of the people who buy Apples or purchase things from their store.
In short – very low. Not to make small the accomplishments of their now deceased leader. He was a true visionary and had a marketing savvy that few in the technical field could hope to match.

BUT a few weeks ago my oldest wanted to purchase a song via iTunes.
Apples cost $1.36. Hating proprietary nature of their music format, I refused to pay for it from apple. I insisted we purchase a song from Amazon.

The same song at amazon was $0.99 – which makes sense as apple adds 30% to any purchase made through their system. Then of course, you can only upload them X times before they prevent the use. So upgrade your systems a few times and you have lost your investment.

To my very PLEASANT surprise – Amazon leaves a copy of every MP3 you purchase on their cloud server for you to download at a later date (no limit to the number or times) and they discounted the 99c purchase to $0.

Subsequently I have made a number of MP3 Purchases via Amazon and every one of them has been discounted to the value of the song.. So. Instead of spending
$13.60 for 10 songs via ITunes the same purchase at amazon would only have been $9.90 but in reality was FREE!!!

Don’t be a sheep and use iTUnes. Be smart and use AMAZON! You will be a much happier person (PERIOD)

Kill “right click” from a webpage with JQuery

This was always a pain with pure javascript, however Jquery has made our lives infinatly easier. Just bind to the “contextmenu” object and kill any action.

$(function(){
$(document).bind(“contextmenu”,function(e){
return false;
});
});

usefull ips for DNS breakdown..

Here’s a tip for the do-it-yourself crowd: Go to your computer’s Start
menu, and either go to “run” or just search for “cmd.” Open it up, and type in
“ping [website address],”

Once you have the IP for a website, all you really need to do is enter it
like you would a normal URL and hit enter/press go. Typing in
“208.85.240.231” should bring you to the front page of AO3, for example,
just as typing “174.121.194.34/dashboard” should bring you straight to your
Tumblr dashboard. Since we’re obviously bracing for the worst case scenario
which would involve you not being able to access the internet regularly, you
should, save this list.
